Bray Wyatt Should Destroy The Undertaker At WrestleMania
In early 2015, Bray Wyatt began releasing cryptic promos challenging an unidentified individual. Although the promos seemed to be alluding to The Undertaker, that was not made completely clear until WWE Fastlane. At the pay-per-view, Wyatt made his intentions known in a truly spectacular fashion. Following the match between Dean Ambrose and Bad News Barrett, the lights died down, several druids wielding torches began making their entrance, and the unforgettable bell of The Undertaker’s music began to toll. Then two druids emerged from the darkness pushing a casket towards the ring. When they finally made it to ringside, the lid opened to reveal Bray Wyatt inside who was laughing menacingly. He proclaimed himself as the new face of fear and insisted that he would capture The Undertaker’s soul at WrestleMania.
On the February 23rd episode of Monday Night RAW, Bray Wyatt followed up his challenge from WWE Fastlane by cutting yet another promo on The Undertaker. This time Wyatt appeared backstage standing next to an open coffin stating that he was going to finish the job at WrestleMania. He said he knew why The Undertaker was afraid and that there was no reason to hide. Wyatt then shut the coffin lid and urged The Undertaker to come find him.
The Undertaker hasn’t appeared on WWE programming since his loss to Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XXX. With that being said, I find it highly unlikely that he will actually appear again live prior to WrestleMania for the actual match with Bray Wyatt. The Undertaker will probably respond to Wyatt’s challenge to help build anticipation for their match but I seriously doubt it will be in any live capacity. Perhaps through a video or message of some sort similar to how Sting accepted Triple H’s challenge to meet face-to-face at WWE Fastlane.
Even though The Undertaker’s streak may have come to an end at last year’s WrestleMania, a victory over The Deadman on The Grandest Stage of Them All still understandably carries a lot of value. A victory for Bray Wyatt over The Undertaker at The Showcase of the Immortals would not only be fitting, it would also help to establish Bray Wyatt as the new face of fear for years to come.
After the WWE’s gross mistreatment of the Bray Wyatt character in the past, the victory only seems right. Moreover, it would also be one of the best steps the WWE has made in rebuilding the Wyatt character as a future Superstar and WWE Championship contender.
However, a mere victory is not good enough. Bray Wyatt should physically destroy The Undertaker in their match at WrestleMania. Just to clarify, when I say destroy I’m not suggesting that these two have a one-sided squash match like the bout between Brock Lesnar and John Cena from SummerSlam 2014. What I mean is that Bray Wyatt should leave The Undertaker lying completely broken and beaten beyond repair.
Although seeing another win in the victory column for The Phenom would certainly be satisfying, it doesn’t actually do anything for him at this point in his career. It would be pointless to bring The Undertaker back just to defeat Wyatt and disappear again. The fact that his career has been winding down and is basically done only further justifies the WWE’s need to establish a new star capable of creating their own original and exciting legacy. Most importantly, another loss won’t diminish The Undertaker’s streak or legacy in any way. This would allow him to pass the torch by putting over Wyatt, have his well deserved sendoff, and ride off into the sunset.
Bottom line, Bray Wyatt should not only destroy The Undertaker at WrestleMania, he should capture his soul in his lantern like a firefly. All hail the new face of fear, the one and only Bray Wyatt.
